Unclog Kitchen Sink, Grease Out of Pants & Eggshells for Plants

Hi there,

Home challenges have a way of popping up when you least expect them. Whether it's a stubborn drain or a grease stain that won't budge, the right approach makes all the difference.

In today's issue:

  • Clearing a Clogged Kitchen Sink Without Harsh Chemicals

  • Why Eggshells Belong in Your Houseplants

  • Getting Grease Stains Out of Your Favorite Pants

  • And more…

CLEANING

We've all stood there watching soapy water refuse to drain while last night's pasta bits float back up to mock us. These nine hacks range from a simple hot-water flush to a baking-soda volcano that actually works, so that sink can get back to its job.

CLEANING

Grease stains have ruined more good pants than anyone cares to admit, but the fix is simpler than most people think. We found four surprisingly effective methods that work on everything from bacon splatter to bike-chain smudges.

TIP OF THE DAY

Is there a hostile takeover of the utility room?

Group all cleaning products by task : laundry supplies on one shelf, floor care on another, surface cleaners together. Use clear bins or lazy Susans to corral small bottles so nothing hides.

Label each zone with a simple tag. This system cuts search time and prevents buying duplicates because you can see exactly what you have at a glance.

PLANTS & GARDEN

Eggshells contain calcium carbonate, the same compound that strengthens human bones and helps plants build sturdy cell walls. When crushed and added to potted soil, these kitchen scraps become a slow-release fertilizer that also deters slugs and improves drainage.

FUN FACT

The 8-track inventor also designed a private jet!

William Powell Lear created the Learjet before turning his attention to car stereos. The aviation pioneer sold his jet company in 1967 and poured resources into perfecting the 8-track cartridge.

His team installed the first units in 1965 Ford Mustangs, and by 1966, every major Detroit automaker offered 8-track players as factory options.
