PLANTS & GARDEN

After a summer of hand-pulling dandelions, we sought out eight simple ways to stop grass and weeds for good. We learned that a single crabgrass plant can shed thousands of seeds, so early action keeps beds cleaner for longer.

TIP OF THE WEEK

Can you really clean grout without kneeling for an hour?

Hydrogen peroxide brightens dingy grout lines in about 15 minutes with minimal scrubbing. Spray 3% hydrogen peroxide onto grout, wait 10 minutes, then scrub lightly with a grout brush or old toothbrush.

Rinse with plain water and wipe down the surrounding tile. The bubbling action pulls dirt out of porous grout, and because peroxide breaks down into water and oxygen, it won't leave residue or require a second rinse.
