MABEL’S WISDOM

Brighten Up Those Whites!

Back in my day, we didn't have fancy detergents to keep our whites bright. When your clothes start to yellow, try this simple remedy that works wonders.

Super Clothes Whitener

  • 1 cup of white vinegar

  • 1/2 cup of baking soda

Soak your yellowed clothes in a mixture of warm water and vinegar for about an hour. Then, wash them with your usual soap and add the baking soda to the wash cycle. You'll be amazed at how fresh and bright your clothes will look, just like in the good old times!

TIP OF THE DAY

Are Your Curtains Begging for a Spa Day?

Give your curtains a fresh, clean look by taking them down for a gentle wash in cold water. Use a mild detergent to avoid damaging the fabric, and be sure to skip the dryer—air drying is key to maintaining their shape and preventing shrinkage.

Hang them back up while still slightly damp to help eliminate wrinkles and keep your curtains looking fresh and fabulous.

PLANTS & GARDEN

Ever tried growing veggies in the shade? It turns out that some of the best garden delights thrive without full sun. We loved it when we discovered kale flourishing under the oak tree!
