We didn't have fancy cleaners for everything back in my day, but we sure knew how to keep things tidy! To clean gunky refrigerator door gaskets, use a simple yet effective mixture.

  • 1 qt warm water

  • 1 tbsp baking soda

Mix the baking soda into warm water. Dip a cloth into the solution and scrub the gaskets well. Rinse with a clean, damp cloth and dry thoroughly.

Remember, a little elbow grease and some good old-fashioned know-how go a long way!

We share five simple ways to remove rust from stainless steel without scratches or harsh fumes. We once saved a spotted kettle with lemon and baking soda, and fun fact, stainless steel's protective chromium oxide film renews itself in air when kept clean and dry.

Why did it take 63 years to cut the cord?

Angle grinders stayed tethered to wall outlets from 1954 until 2017 because early rechargeable batteries couldn't deliver the 1,000 to 1,500 watts needed to spin a 5-inch disc at 10,000 RPM.

Nickel-cadmium packs from the 1980s would overheat or die after just a few cuts through steel. Lithium-ion chemistry finally cracked the code by packing three times the power into the same weight, and better motor controllers learned to squeeze every electron without burning out the tool.
