We used to think washing machines cleaned themselves—until a repairman opened ours and revealed a layer of grime that explained why towels had started to smell sour straight out of the wash . These 7+ tricks take less than 30 minutes and use supplies already sitting in the pantry.

French troops stationed in Algeria around 1840 discovered cold coffee when scorching desert heat made hot drinks unbearable. They mixed coffee concentrate with cold water, creating a drink called mazagran after the fortress town where they were stationed.
