CLEANING

Grout lines have a sneaky way of collecting dirt faster than any other surface in the home , turning from bright white to dingy gray in what feels like overnight. This guide shares seven simple ways to take the guesswork out of restoring those lines to their original color, using supplies already sitting in most kitchen cabinets.

TIP OF THE DAY

Can you really clean a keyboard without ruining it?

Turn off and unplug the device, then use a microfiber cloth dampened—not soaked—with 70% isopropyl alcohol to wipe each key and the spaces between them. For stubborn grime, dip a cotton swab in the alcohol and run it along the edges and crevices.

Allow two minutes of air-drying before plugging back in. Alcohol evaporates quickly and won't damage electronics when applied to a cloth first, and it kills 99.9% of common pathogens without leaving residue.

WILDLIFE CONTROL

Squirrels can strip a bird feeder bare in under ten minutes, turning a peaceful backyard into a high-speed acrobatics show. We've rounded up ten proven methods that protect gardens, porches, and sanity without harming these persistent little athletes.

FUN FACT

Surfboard Maker Accidentally Invented the Modern Skateboard

Bill Richards built the first skateboard in 1958 because his son Mark wanted to "surf" the streets of Southern California when the ocean was flat. Bill owned the Val Surf shop in North Hollywood and attached roller-skate wheels to a plank of wood, creating what he called a "sidewalk surfboard."

Within two years, surf shops across California were selling thousands of these boards.
